This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your personal information when you visit our website at capetales.com, place an order, or otherwise interact with our Service. - Parent/Guardian Information: Full name and email address
- Child Information: Child's first name and age
- Photographs: 1-2 photos of the child, and optionally a photo of a stuffed animal or toy
- Story Details: Description of what the child is being brave about, city or neighborhood, and preferred art style
- Shipping Address: Full mailing address for order delivery
- Payment Information: Processed exclusively by Stripe — NOT stored on CapeTales servers
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- IP address, browser type, operating system, device type
- Pages visited, time on site, referring URLs
- Cookies and similar technologies
3. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
PROTECTING CHILDREN'S PRIVACY IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE TO CAPETALES. THIS SECTION ADDRESSES OUR COMPLIANCE WITH THE CHILDREN'S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT (COPPA).
CapeTales does NOT knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of thirteen (13). Our Service is designed for and marketed to adults — specifically parents and legal guardians — not to children.
All personal information, including children's names, ages, and photographs, is collected from and provided by the child's parent or legal guardian. Children do not interact with our Site directly.
If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will take prompt steps to delete that information.
Parental Rights: Parents and legal guardians may at any time request to review, delete, or refuse further collection of their child's personal information by contacting legal@capetales.com.

- To create and fulfill your personalized comic book order
- To process payment via Stripe
- To communicate about your order (confirmation, shipping updates, support)
- To improve our services and AI generation quality
- For marketing and promotional purposes ONLY with identifying information removed/altered, unless you opt out

5. Photo Handling and Security
- Photos are used SOLELY for the purpose of generating the personalized comic book
- Photos are processed through AI image generation systems
- Photos are stored securely on encrypted servers during the production process
- Photos are retained for up to 90 days after order fulfillment for quality assurance and customer support, then permanently deleted
- Photos are NOT sold, rented, or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes
- Photos may be processed by third-party AI services (e.g., image generation APIs) as part of the production pipeline
- Customers may request early deletion of their photos at any time by contacting legal@capetales.com
6. Third-Party Services
We work with the following third-party service providers:
- Stripe — Payment processing (Stripe Privacy Policy)
- AI Image Generation Providers — Photos may be processed by these services to generate artwork
- Shipping Carriers — USPS, UPS, FedEx, or similar domestic carriers receive shipping addresses; for international shipments, international carriers such as DHL and international postal services also receive shipping addresses for delivery
- Web Hosting Provider — Hosts our website and stores order data
- Analytics — We may use analytics tools to understand site usage
- Email Service Provider — For order confirmations and communications
7. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers necessary to fulfill orders, as required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, or sale of assets).
8. International Data Transfers
CapeTales is operated from the United States. Your personal information, including information submitted through the Service, may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country of residence.

- Order records: Retained indefinitely for business and tax records
- Photos: Deleted within 90 days of order fulfillment
- Payment data: Stored by Stripe per their retention policy; NOT stored by CapeTales
- Contact information: Retained until deletion is requested
- Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized

- Right to delete your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Right to opt out of promotional communications
- Right to request deletion of your child's photos at any time
